Cache destroyed, suspects detained
Multi-National Division – Center PAO

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq – A weapons cache was destroyed and three suspected insurgents were detained by Coalition Forces in an early morning operation in Zambraniyah Oct. 8.

Paratroopers with the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, located the cache which consisted of rocket-propelled grenades and mortars.

The cache contained three RPG rounds and two canisters believed to have contained either RPG rounds or mortars.

During the operation, Soldiers identified three men matching descriptions of suspects they were targeting. The men were detained for questioning.

An explosive ordnance disposal team destroyed the cache in a controlled detonation.

Paratroopers from 1-40th Cav. Regt. are operationally assigned to the 2nd BCT, 3rd Inf. Div., from the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division.
