ISF arrest 7 in search of terrorists in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces arrested seven individuals today during two joint security operations conducted in northern Iraq to find and arrest several suspected terrorists.

In southwestern Mosul, ISF arrested four suspected criminal associates of an al-Qaeda in Iraq member who allegedly has close ties with senior leaders of the terrorist group.

As ISF and U.S. advisors approached the building where the warranted AQI member was suspected to be located, three individuals ran from the targeted building. The security team pursued the three fleeing individuals and captured two without incident. The third individual ran into a nearby building, where he was also captured.

After preliminary questioning and investigation conducted at the scene, ISF arrested four total suspected criminal accomplices of the warranted individual.

In a separate security operation conducted in a rural area located approximately 108 km northwest of Baghdad, Iraqi Police and U.S. advisors searched several buildings for a suspected terrorist who helped stage IED attacks against security forces in Iraq.

Based on evidence found at the scene, Iraqi Police arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activity.
