Federal Police Brigade arrests six suspected terrorists in Baghdad

RELEASE No. 20100210-01
Feb. 10, 2010

BAGHDAD – An element of the Iraqi Federal Police, with U.S. forces advisors, arrested six suspected terrorists in the Iraqi capital Feb. 9.

The elite police force was operating under the authority of a warrant issued by the Central Investigative Court of Baghdad.

The suspects are allegedly affiliated with an AQI cell in the Arab Jabour area. The cell is responsible for IED and small arms attacks against Iraqi Security Forces in the area.

“The Iraqi Federal Police commitment to providing safety and security to the country was demonstrated in this operation,” said Army Maj. Catina Barnes, a Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Arabian Peninsula spokesperson. “It disrupts a security threat to the GOI and assists in securing the environment for the national elections.”
