Improvised explosive device-making cache destroyed
Multi-National Division – Center PAO

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq – In continued efforts to degrade enemy resources, a large weapons cache of materials used in the production of improvised explosive devices was destroyed in Arab Jabour Oct. 6.

Soldiers of Company A, 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, were conducting a patrol when they discovered the materials in a palm grove.

Soldiers located an anti-tank mine, four rocket-propelled grenade launchers, six 60mm mortars and fuses. Additional IED making materials -including all necessary materials to produce multiple IEDs - were also discovered.

An explosive ordnance disposal team was called in and destroyed the cache in a controlled detonation.
