ISF arrest alleged AQI member, 8 suspected associates

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces arrested a suspected Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) member and eight alleged criminal associates during a joint security operation conducted near Abu Ghraib today.

ISF and U.S. advisors searched several buildings for a suspected AQI member who allegedly has close ties to senior AQI leadership.

Information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest the warranted individual and eight suspected criminal associates.

All joint operations are conducted pursuant to a warrant issued by an Iraqi judge.

ISF and U.S. advisors conduct joint operations in accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government to target terrorists seeking to disrupt the security and stability of Iraq.
