ISF arrest suspected IED, assassination cell leader

TIKRIT, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces, with U.S. advisors, arrested a suspected Islamic State of Iraq cell leader in Mosul, Ninawa province, March 2.

The suspected cell leader is accused of ordering vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks in northern Iraq.  ISF also believe the suspect ordered the assassinations of Iraqi citizens and improvised explosive device attacks on ISF throughout Ninawa province.

Intelligence reports indicate the cell may be linked to manufacturing IEDs for several cells in the Mosul area.

An Iraqi court issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.

In accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government, Iraqi and U.S. forces conduct joint operations to target terrorists seeking to disrupt the security and stability of Iraq.
