ISF arrest three suspected terrorists in pre-election security operation

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Police arrested three suspected terrorists today during a joint security operation conducted in northern Iraq targeting a suspected leader of a terrorist group believed to be assisting al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) in planning and carrying out attacks to disrupt government operations and deter voters from participating in national elections.
The security operation was conducted in accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government.
Iraqi Police from the Third Emergency Response Unit and U.S. advisors searched a building in a rural area located approximately 76km southeast of Kirkuk for the warranted terrorist leader.
Information and evidence gathered during the operation led Iraqi Police to arrest three suspected criminal associates of the warranted individual.
