ISF Raid Captures Terrorist Tied to Attacks on ISF/CF
Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO
BAGHDAD – Specially trained Iraqi Security Forces conducted an early-morning raid Oct. 1 near Taji and captured one terrorist linked to Al Qaeda in Iraq suspected of attacks against Iraqi and coalition forces.
Iraqi forces, with coalition advisers, conducted an air-assault near their objective, and quickly secured multiple secondary objectives. Within minutes, the suspect was captured and the Iraqi force prepared to depart the objective. Multiple weapons were seized and a vehicle parked outside the objective tested positive for exposure to explosives. Iraqi forces completed their mission and departed with the weapons and one detainee.
There were no shots fired, and no civilian, Iraqi forces or coalition forces injuries.
The raid was conducted as part of Operation Together Forward with the goal of capturing a terrorist targeting legitimate Iraqi Forces. The operation, a helicopter-borne assault, highlights the training and capability of Iraqi forces.
