Suspected AQI criminal associate arrested by ISF in Samarra

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces arrested one suspected Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) criminal associate during a joint security operation in Samarra Thursday.

ISF and U.S. advisors searched several buildings for a suspected AQI member who is allegedly involved in vehicle-borne improvised explosive device operations and has close ties to senior AQI leadership.

Information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest one AQI criminal associate.

All joint operations are pursuant to a warrant issued by an Iraqi judge.

Iraqi and U.S. advisors conduct joint operations in accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government to target terrorists seeking to disrupt the security and stability of Iraq.
