UPDATE: US service members killed, one wounded in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD - Two U.S. service members were killed by small arms fire when an individual wearing an Iraqi Army uniform attacked them at the Ghazlani Training Center located south of Mosul at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

This incident occurred during a training event being conducted by U.S. forces as part of their advise and assist mission with Iraqi security forces.

Another U.S. service member was wounded and evacuated by air to Joint Base Balad for treatment. The name and condition of the wounded service member is not releasable.

The individual responsible for the shooting was killed during the attack.

The names of deceased service members will be announced through the U.S. Department of Defense official website http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/.  The announcements are made on the website no earlier than 24 hours after notification of the service member's primary next of kin.

The incident is currently under investigation.
